Suzuki really should have tried to stay in the US longer than it did. The Jimny alone would have sold like hot cakes if marketed correctly in the current market. They had great cars but without a clear identity.

They also killed their powersports sales by ending car sales.

I agree they have made some cool stuff. The swift, kizashi, jimny, SX4. I wish they would come back.

I think it would have a hard time pulling people away from Wranglers. I’d rather have a Jimny, but I’m definitely not your typical car buyer.

That Defender Jimny is freaking the best. The fact that it’s called “Little D” only makes it better.

It costs way less than a Wrangler though. It's considerably smaller too.

In places where gas is expensive and parking space is rare, families make do with cars like the Jimny, the Renault Twingo, or the Fiat Panda.
Obviously you need to pack lightly, and it’s not as comfortable to spend six hours in an economy car as it is in a full-size SUV, but it’s not impossible, and not even remotely rare.

I think we could do it, but I’d have to leave the dog at home. I had an Abarth before the Jeep which I always wanted to road trip in. Ended up doing in the front end on fireroads in the Superstitions which led me to get the Jeep.

I’ve made due travelling around the western US in my two door Wrangler with a family of four and a dag. Our other roadtrip car is an X1, which feels much more roomy, but is still small compared to your average American’s car.

I doubt it would cost that much less if brought to the US. The smallness, while cool for people like me, would be a detriment to sales here.

But I bet you could get a lot of conversion from people with softroaders.  Hell, I’d be tempted to sell the Land Rover and go to one of these and I know my friend would sell his Renegade.

That’s true. There’s just so much of the 4x4 market that has a 4x4 to portray an image rather fullfill a need. Half the guys that go out haul their whole house behind them.  Driving around a tiny Suzuki doesn’t portray that image.

<_<;;

Moving on! I dunno, I think there is a big space in the market for a small, capable, moddable, inexpensive, new offroader. With new Wrangler prices approaching gently used G-Wagen territory and overlanding gaining popularity, it seems like there is a big hole in the market. Especially for people who don’t want to do their own wrenching.

Not something I could afford at the moment! :(

the Jimny would have to be a good 15 k under the Wrangler’s price point. To make uo for it’s size and lack of brand recognition in the US.  W hich honestly it could be with how inflated Wrangler prices are now.
